BESSMOUNT MILL

BESSMOUNT MILL

Renovating a historical building poses many challenges. One of the biggest is finding a suitable heating solution. Bessmount Mill in Co. Wexford is a 200-year-old watermill that is currently being renovated and is due to open as a Bio-Energy and Kinesiolgy Treatment Centre.  The three storey structure consist of several large open plan spaces which were converted into therapy rooms. The goal of the project is to open a centre that is completely energy self-sufficient with all energy been delivered from the mill wheel.  Solo Radiator was selected as a cost-effective energy efficient heat sources for the building.  With Solo Radiator, Bessmount Mill can expect more than 40% less energy consumption than conventional radiators. Each Solo unit contains 5% of the water volume of a conventional radiator resulting in much more rapid rate of convection. This means increased comfort for guest and participants of the treatment center. In addition, Solo Radiator is designed to integrate effectively with low temperature systems and can be operated alongside other renewable energy systems.
